Rolling back R10.1 to 9.1 License question

My company recently upgraded a customer from R4.1 to 10.1 only to realize that the hold functionality was no longer working with 5410's and didn't realize those phones were no longer supported. We need to roll back to 9.1 and our distributor is telling us we need to purchase new licenses or is it possibly to roll back to 9.1 and still use 10.1 licensing?
 
I think you shoudl indeed upgrade to the latest 10.1 version.
But you should be able to use the 10.x PLDS on 9.1

Thank you for the insight. I found another post and have decided to bump it up to 10.1.3. Avaya's documentation is quite confusing as the general availability for 10.1 only lists the compatible firmware of R6 for 5410's and doesn't mention that they are no longer supported, and only listed as not supported in the general availability for 10.0 documentation.
