I need to have 10 phones on one IP Office 500 set so that if any one of the phones go off hook they ring the others and when they pick up they automatically enter a conference bridge. I will listen to any option or variation. It is for a safety 'ring of phones' in a Nuclear plant.

Catalyst techs say can't be done. I like challanges!

Thanks

Build a group woth those phones and give it a number (i use 200 as an example)

Build a shortcode like this:

Code: *99
Feature: Priority call
Tel number: 200
Line grp: 0

Then build user shortcodes for those users like this:

Code: ?D
Feature: Dail
Tel number: *99
Lin grp: 0

This should work in theory.

ok this is 100% hypothetical, untested, but may work. would it be viable to have it so that if you were the phone that initiated the call, you pick up and press 1, then all other phones just need to pick up? stay with me....

Each phone is set to ?D to a voicemail module, the voicemail module has a menu with a short timeout set to transfer to the conference bridge and a 1 option which points to a group.

the group rings all of the handsets briefly (more like an alert than anything else), and then overflows to a group which puts the caller into the bridge.

I know it sounds batshit crazy, but then if you pick up and press one, you ring the group, which alerts everyone to pick up the phone. they pick up, hit the module, don't press 1 and get put into the bridge. in the mean time
the person who iniates the call has overflowed to the bridge and is there waiting when everyone else joins.

the downside is that there would have to be a very short ring time/user training so that they didnt pick up whilst it was ringing because that would connect the call and kill the whole process, but a bit of fiddling with the timers and it might work.the 9 beers i've had tells me it should anyway....

Priority call button to a hunt group. Try it, it works.

Tom, a priority call will build a conference and every other phone in that group keeps ringing untill answered or when everybody hangs up.
So this could be called an emergency group.

The ?D shortcode will dail the *99 (my example) and call that emergency group (priority call)
This is exactly what the topc starter wants.

Try it and you will love it :)

awesome, that's very cool to know, have a star.
2 questions though. why isn't it documented properly and why don't catalyst who are supposedly johnny big bollocks of the IPO support world know about it?

In the docs it just shows as a way to force through DND settings.

I did a grip request for an emergency group and they came with the priority call.

Thank you guys soooo much! Can't wait to try it! Hope if works!
How does the Confernce Bridge work into this?

The ipo does have a conference bridge in it.
When needed it uses the bridge.
This option uses one.

I put the shortcode and created a group. When I pick up one of the phones it shows it is making an External call and then I get reorder.

What number does your group have?
Then change 200 with the number of your group.

You better change the shortcode in to 1196 :)
The 200 was just an example.

yep, I am using 4 dig for the ext. range so it stopped me from using 200. I just creaqitng a standard group set to Collective and with 2 phones. The ?D worked as a standard ring down but does'n like the *code I gave it for the short code. Hmmm.
