Folks:

Thank you much for reading this. I'd like to hear back from hiring managers (who look at resume and choose the best qualified cv) and anyone else who has this kind of experience (too many short term contracts and career gaps). Please note your profession in replies.

My resume has too many short three to six month contracts with a single one year employment at the very beginning of my career. It also has some long gaps where I worked in the film industry. I have put in "Sabbatical Year" which has helped once but right now that entry would be in there three times.

I'm thinking of doing a summary like this:
1993-2015
Clients: Toyota, Nissan, Bank of America, etc.
Experience: Table creation, normalization, requirements gathering, SQL, Visual Basic, etc

Yeah, that's what I did. I did a lot of contract and consulting work from 1998-2004. I wrote it like this:

2004 - present Corporate job - typical resume entry.

1998 - 2004 Project contract and consulting work in NJ, PA, DE, and MD.
then list and blurb the applicable projects in the order that they would be important for the job you're seeking.
then at the bottom of the project list, I put a statement:
This is a partial list of applicable projects; full details available upon request

johnherman, thanks for the reply.

Would you mind uploading your resume (with your info removed for privacy)? I'd like to take a closer look.

Example per your request. I have removed certain proprietary system names and changed years to help prevent identifying info from being posted for "Major Corporation", who might object...... It doesn't show, but I use BOLD for the company names in the section for Project Consulting and Contract work.
