I need a little guidance...
I currently have a Windows 2003 DC (that also handles DHCP/DNS/WINS/Print) that I want to replace with a new Windows 2008 server.
I've found instructions on how to migrate all of the services over to the new server. The new server will have a new name but I'd like to use the same IP as the old server.
My question is, in what order should I do all this? Should I add the new server to the domain first and make it a DC? (I do know that I need to prep the forest for the first 2008 DC) Or should I migrate over DHCP/DNS/ETC before that? When would I 'transfer' over the static IP from the old server? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
