I have an IP Office 500 V2 and need to change out the cabinet. The cabinet needing replacing has a broken LAN ethernet port. It broke off. I think someone tripped over the LAN cable and broke it.. Of course, nobody is fessing up..

Anyways, my question is: Is it as simple as moving the SD Card to the new cabinet? The new cabinet will be brand new, never powered up.

Thanks!

Could be......

If the old one had a virtual Essential license, you will lose that by moving to a new control unit. But the new control unit will configure itself to the release that is on the card.

Are you using the WAN port for anything? Can you change the address and IP routes and just use that port instead?

We're currently using the WAN port. But the customer would like it fixed..

They're licensed without the need of the virtual license and they're currently at 9.0.5.

I think I would upgrade to new chassis to 10.X, make a call to lock it in, and down grade to 9.1 if you don't want to migrate the licenses at this time. But it will save you an upgrade license if you ever want to go to R10.

The security settings are stored inside the cabinet, not the SD card. Be sure to redo them.

I would beg to differ on the security settings. It is in the chassis but it is also stored as a file named security.cfg. The chassis can be overridden with the file.

Good luck with that with the amount of hassle getting licenced for 10 involves.
