I have IP Office 500 4.2(4) and Office Manager 6.2(4). When I upgrade user’s phone set from analog to digital I change the records in the Office Manager then I save conf file and I do merge. When I call upgraded user extension to test it the digital phone doesn’t ring, instead the old analog port has ring. It stays like that unless I reboot the IP Office. Is there solution for that?

you have to make the change in the USER and EXTENSION groups

You may need to reboot the system to get the ports to change.

I've noticed that as well, although newer versions changing base extension information is supposed to be mergable, it takes a reboot to engage the changes. We've not done any research why, just rebooted and went with it.

I think it is mergable, but the user needs to login to the new extension

All I do is make a login code for the affected extensions, merge, log the extensions off then on with the appropriate extension number. Takes an extra 30 seconds and avoids a reboot.

mforrence,

Can you direct me how to make a login code? I'm new to IP Office.

User section, telephony tab, supervisor subtab login code - I just use 1234.

Then change numbers in Extension section and merge.

Go to one of the affected phones and (assuming you're using the default short codes) dial *36 to log user off. Then dial *35*1234# The extensions will then be swapped.
