Hello,
I just switched out a kitchen printer with another used printer that the manager of the restaurant purchased via ebay. The printer is in good condition and powers up normally. Upon plugging in the printer, it began to print illegible characters non stop. When the cat5 cable was unplugged, it stopped but then proceeded as the cable was plugged in again. In the interim of not having a kitchen printer, they had placed the Bar (thermal) printer in its place. It seemed to work fine and I am told, that was just a plug and play operation. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get this Epson U220D. It is the same model that was there before (prior to the thermal). The printer is connected via a serial adapter to a cat5 cable, as are all other printers in the restaurant.
In aloha manager it is setup as such:
Name: KP1
Terminal: 000 None
Port: COM6
Type: Epson U200
When the printer was first plugged in, it was set to a Epson TM80. I checked settings for another kitchen printer (KP2) that was installed, as they used two printers simultaneously in the past. They tell me that it was also an Epson U220D, but Aloha settings are still set to Epson 300 for KP2. I tried refreshing the system under those settings as well and had no luck. As I've refreshed under different settings, the printer stopped printing random characters. I've re-routed the printers via FOH to the bar printer (physically in the bar) meanwhile. Is there another step in installing one of these printers that I am missing? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Michael
