Much as I love VFP, I am increasingly battering myself against VFP's lack of true Unicode support, and I need to start looking around for a replacement. I'm sure others have been doing the same. So, can anybody recommend a PC-based database program which:

- has full Unicode support
- has command-line abilities
- is as powerful as VFP in its data manipulation (I do not, and shall not be making any programs for others - it's all about the way I can handle raw data).

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Graham

I do a lot where I store data in MS SQL tables and manipulate it in VFP. I use the SQL import export function to move large amounts of data or ADO for regular day to day data grabs. My permanent tables are mostly MS SQL and the temporary ones are stand alone DBF's. I have a few permanent DBF's but it is no problem to use MS SQL and DBF's in the same program. I do have end users and it is important they don't have to wory about the source of the data. The only data type I've ever had problems with is dBase from Borland. VFP always wants to convert it, even when I try accessing it with ADO.
