Hello,
we have an IPO500 with embedded VM. A collegue upgraded the prompts to 4.2, but he first copied the wrong Files (*.c23) with the avaya tool to the CF card. He coundn't remove the files with manager, so he removed the card from the IPO, deleted every file and directory (he doesn't format the card!) with the card-reader on his PC, put back the card into the IPO and started the Copy-Tool for the *.c11 Files (send711.bat). The IPO detects the CF-Card, but says that there is no VoiceMail. The Settings in Manager are right. System Status tells me that there are no VM channels.

Our dealer tells me that the embedded VM is completely lost and we have to buy a new Avaya CF-Card.

I thought I had seen a thread about a tool to recover Embedded VM a few months ago, but I can't find it.

Has somebody an idea?

Thanks!

I believe that if you delete the magic files, the card is toast.

Mike

You have in fact lost that card forever, by deleting every file he has deleted the licence file that is tied to that card, it's now just a plain old flash card. And no you can't ask Avaya to resend you the file.

if you are very lucky you can recover the file with a undelete program but the chance is very slim.
The file ends with the extension .clp and is only one Kb in size.
Send the card to Avaya for repair and they will put back the license file

I seem to remember they charge a hefty sum for that though, as in almost as much as a new card.

intrigant: Perfect! Thanks, my collegue had copied 3 files from the CF. One had 61 bytes. I copied this one back to the CP and now it showes me 4 channels and I can dial into the VM. Thanks you saved me more than 400 EUR (that's the price for an embedded VM in germany).

Germany! - what on earth are you doing with a voicemail system in Germany? [sorry, our German Avaya contacts keep saying that no one in Germany wants or uses voicemail systems]

Shall i give you my bank account number for a small fee, lets say €199?

You're all right. We didn't really used it until now. we had a project where we needed a voicebox where people can leave a tracking-number. At the same time we ordered the IPO. But please don't ask me why we ordered the embedded voicemail and didn't use the Lite VM. And we won't have a separate box that's called answering machine for that.

Intrigant:
another offer: If you are in Berlin someday I'll spend you a good lunch. It's less than 199 EUR, but better than nothing! ;)

Again thanks to everybody!
