HI Guys,

Has anyone ever had it where phones at the other end of a VPN (1608's) won't let you passed the enter password bit?

If the phone is taken back to the IPO on the local network it works fine, but put it back at the other end of the VPN and stuck at enter password after ext no.

Phone sees the IPO and pulls the appropriate files and everything pings everything else. It was working and IT claim nothing has changed.

Thanks in advance

IP route is in the IPO?
Also make sure that the local IP range is not the same as the VPN site range otherwise no routing can happen.

HI Westi

Yes IP route is there, local IP range is a 192.168 and he's got the far end as 172.x.x.

Weird thing is this has been working but now when I look at the sysmon its saying remote phone not allowed for the phones at the other end of the VPN when they try to register

All sorted now.

The IT Guy found a NAT rule in the VPN router and it was trying to route the packets for the phones via the internet instead of the VPN.

That is actually a pretty good catch by the IT guy. Most of the time I deal with IT guys they blame the phone system till the bitter end... when you finally prove it was the network/VPN all along.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

* for confirming the solution & also proving the general statement made by all here "it IS the data network" :)
