Has anyone here ever worked with Bernard Haldane Associates? I just had an interview that was a little different. They seem to market themselves as more than just a recruiting firm and it sounds like there may be an up front fee. The other wierd thing is that in the "second level interview" they want to meet my wife as well. I've never heard of that.

Just wondering is anyone else has dealt with them.

I'd never heard of the firm before now, but I did a Google search and found something else that's a little odd.

If you do a Google search of Bernard Haldane, and at least the first 200 links provided are to Haldane-owned sites. It took a while to eliminate all their ancilliary domain names to find sites that do not paint the company in a flattering light.

Take a look here: for some other-than flattering portrayals of the company.

From what I can see, though, the interview with spouses is a standard part of their practices. It seems to lead to precede a contract-signing and paying of fees by you.

That web site gave me a tip to a company (Primerica) that is also a rip-off. I was called to an "interview" last week & it seemed funny. Now I know why.

Thx

Bernard Haldane is a nationally known "human resources management" and what their primary function is, is to help people market themselves for jobs.

I used a firm like BH when I was laid off from my job with a Fortune 500 company, and the company paid for outplacement services with Right Management Consultants which is exactly the same thing that BH does.

I found a job on my own and the place I used really did not help me in any way. The fee was paid by my former employer, however, I did ask what a fee would cost someone if they were to do it on their own - and I was informed that it is a few thousand dollars for a few months of service.

What they mainly do is "help" you with a resume, but you do all the work on it, the proof-read and give suggestions and type and print it out then mail it. They provide voice mail and email service, internet service, and have a number of classes in different things, such as finding your best fit for a career if you want to change fields, interviewing techniques and so forth.

Others may find them useful, however, I was not pleased and developed my resume on my own and wish the company would have given me the thousands instead of the HR consulting firm.

I am not sure if you are planning to work for them as an employee or if you are engaging their services. But the above is what they are and do.

I should mention again, they are NOT a recruiting firm like Robert Half Technology, they are an Human Resources Management consulting firm.

Good information. Thank you to all.

After some "interesting" reading, I canceled my "second level interview". This has been quite an eye opener. Thanks again.
