Our Chairman wants to record a message that will get played to the firm at an undisclosed time. We use MM and usually he just sends a broadcast message out real time via the handset. The last time he wanted the msg to go out at an undisclosed time and we had him record into a microphone attached to a laptop that creates a .mp3 file. When we got the go ahead we connected 'decent' speaker so a laptop, played the recording into a polycom while logged into his mailbox and sent it. He wants to do this again; however, he didn't like the sound quality.. he thought it sounded echo'y. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this into MM very crisp and clean since we can't do this real time and we can't schedule it since it's undetermined when he wants it to go out? Cost would not be a big issue to get the right thing to do.

If you use the Web Client, have him record the message in his mailbox and then you can schedule it to go out whenever you want it to...

well he does log into his mailbox normally and records the msg via the handset. When we do real time broadcast that's what he does. This time he has no specific time when he wants it sent. I'm not clear what you are proposing.. can you give me more detail.. tnx

Are you running Web Client for starters? This is the Web UI that let's people manage their messages through a browser.

If you are (it's free, so you should have it), then he can record a message either using the phone or the sound card on his PC and save it in his mailbox. Then, when you want to send it, just log into the Web Client, address it, and select send.

Does this help?

hmmm no, I don't have the web client setup. That idea would help.

Have you tried this:

Have him log into his mailbox.

Select Option 2
At prompt, record message
Enter Destination Mailbox or List
Then Select Option 4 for future delivery
Then Select Option 2 for Delay and put in when you want to send it...

Or if you're not sure when you want to send it:

Make sure you have UNSENT MESSAGES ALLOWED on your COS for his mailbox. This way he can record the message and then hang up. When he logs back it will tell him he has one new unsent message, would he like to send it now. He then presses Option 1 to address and send.

That was genius.. thanks. We don't have that turned on, but I tested it. Not sure if it will suffice for this guy though. I'll toss it out there as an option. He'll get all screwed up if he logs into his mailbox after doing something like that and hearing 1 unsent msg.
