Receptionist prime phone does not display aditional calls if there is a call being answeared

Only have limited knowledge of Nortel phone systems unfortunately. Any help is appreciated.


All the lines are set to App and Ring. When a call comes in the receptionist answers the call if another call comes in while she is answering the first one the next ones will not ring or display on the other line buttons instead the call rings on all the other phones.

I need to set it up so that if the receptionist answers the first call and is talking on the phone if another call comes in it needs to ring or flash on the other line buttons so that she could put the first call on hold and take the second call.

Thank you for any help or suggestions.
 
Check Forward on Busy setting under Capabilities.

I have checked the forward on busy setting for the extension. It was set to forward on busy to voicemail. I changed that to none. It still does not work. Do I need to forward on busy back to her extension?
 
If you do a button Inquiry Feature *0 what does the button that rings say. It sounds like it is a hunt group ringing the phones and that is the way it works only one call at a time.
 
on the line button when I check the feature * 0 it says PRI A and also says not redirected.

there is no other button that seams like would be an incoming line button maybe thats the problem that there is one incoming line setup on her phone

there is a group created called the dial 0 group and she is a member of that she is also member of the sales hunt group

 
When you go to appear and ring and you add the line, go to show and change the appearances to more than 1. It looks to me like you don't have any more appearances. I always put in at least four. Good luck.

never mind I found it I set it to 4 thanks. let me test it out
 
ok that works now thanks for all the help.

the only issue now is that there are 4 PRI- A lines/buttons but only 1 rings the rest just appear and flash but don't ring
 
PRI A is not a line it is one of 23 Trunks and they are not assigned to phones their numbers are usually 1-23. You need to assign a target line on the phone and they start at line 157 plus you can put multiple appearances on the phone make sure to program the target line with the phones DN number to prime set for the line too.
 
yeah it is set to 157 and it has 4 appearances. and the prime is set to her extension 221.

Now the issue is that when the first call comes in it will ring on her phone, but the next call will not ring her phone only it will flash one of the buttons on the phone but no ring even though it is set to appear and ring.

any ideas why the other appearances dont ring the phone just show the button flashing

It looks like DND on Busy is enabled.

Make sure the following setting is set to No: Terminals & Sets > [DN 221] > Capabilities > DND on Busy.
 
What about Forward on Busy?

Earlier in the thread, you said that you have set the value to None. Is it still set to None?
 
both forward on busy and forward on no answer are set to none
 
All right, the obvious is now ruled out.

Can you try this again. However, this time, I'd like to know exactly what appears on the first line of the display. I'm expecting something like "157 Line157".

Can you also press Feature *0, then one of your Intercom keys? If there are lines assigned to Ring Only on the phone, you will see a NEXT softkey. Once again, I'd like to know exactly what appears on the display after you pressed the NEXT softkey.

Are there lines assigned to that hunt group? If so, which ones? You can find out here: System Programming > Hunt Groups > [Sales Hunt Group] > Line Assignment.
 
this is what appears exactly on the line button

157 PRI A

PRI A is the name of line 157 I believe . when I press show it says not redirected.

when I do Feature *0 on an intercom key there is two and both say the same thing

221 Reception

there is no next, when i click on view it says Port 101

she is a member of a couple of hunt groups. the sales hunt group that she is a member of does not have a line assigned. Than there is a Dial 0 hunt group that she is a member of that is set to line L241. Also she is member of the accounting hunt group that has no line assigned.

That's right.

Now, we are convinced that it is the actual target line that is assigned to the phone, and not the PRI channels themselves.

Good to know.

If lines were assigned to the Hunt Group, it could have conflicted with the existing line appearances. We now know that it is not the case.

On a completely different note, how loud is the ringer? When the phone is busy on a call, the ringer is softer than when the phone is idle. Is it possible that the ringer is not heard?
 
It does not look like it since I tried to press the volume up button to make it louder when I see the line flashing but it did not turn the volume on.
 
The volume was turned down. however I was trying to turn the volume up the wrong way. I had to put call number one on hold first and then turn the volume up on the flashing line from call number two.

I got it all fixed now. Thank you all for your help. I have learned a lot.
