Hi all,

We had a company donate their IP office system with 9506 phones to our charity because they switched to Cisco.
Since it was configured for a standard PRI I just made the adjustments to match our settings from my old Nortel and set it up, however now after its been running great for the last 3 months or so.. its now in some gimped mode and all the licenses are showing as invalid.

After some searching, it seems the donor took out the feature key card.
So my question can i just buy a feature card online and will that fix my problems?
I see there not that expensive because as a charity with no IT budget, I even donate my time.. I do not have any money to buy licenses and I do not see any non-profit programs that Avaya participates in like Microsoft does where we pay nearly nothing for our desktop OS /Server OS and Office365 package.

Any thoughts

Thanks

The system will only run for 2 hrs without valid licences, not days, weeks or months. Also the system will not boot without a card fitted, so if it's just stopped working then look closer to home I guess :)

You need a feature key card to run the system. It doesn't make sense that it would run fine for three months and then stop.

You should start with a physical inspection of the back of the unit. Is the key card installed? If so, power down the system, remove and reseat the card, and power it back up.

If there is not card, you can get one fairly inexpensively, but it is worthless without licenses.
Avaya has no program for non-profits.

If Your System was working fine for 3 Months, someone removed the SD card with all the licenses.
The System will not boot without it!
Verify that the SD Card is in the slot, if it is, You might be lucky with just a re-boot.

No It won't fix your problems. The licenses are tied to the feature card.
If you do get a new card, you need to swap those licenses to the new card and send the old card to Avaya, the one you don't have, within 7 days or you get charged for them.
Get an IP500V2 with SD card and the licenses you need (essential edition). The PRI card is licensed for 8 channels already.

Dulce et decorum pro Avaya mori

Just looked around back and there is no System SD card in it.. I can reboot the unit fine and it works for a bit then stops working.

So basically I have a paperweight that this company donated to us.
So i guess I need to call a local vendor to donate licenses to us and hopefully i wont have this issue ever again.

What they gave you still has a fair monetary value. I don't imagine they had to give you it and they'd be over the moon you're so very grateful. Good luck getting the licences donated, but you'll also need an SD card :)

Depending on how the system is built, you may not need much in the way of licenses. The actual SD card is relatively inexpensive. A local vendor is always a good first call.

If this is one of the earlier 500v2's, there was no ejection guard.
The SD card could have popped out by accident.

Now, it's not very polite to look a gift horse in the mouth, but you could ask politely about the card.

(Why give away something that won't work?)

And if the setup is an all digital/analog, you can just get a new SD card from a dealer (like mforrence wrote), maybe add som PRI ch, and get it up n' running.

Kind regards

Gunnar

the 500V2 doesn't power properly without the SD card so if there is none in it then all you would see is phones that are not working and red lights on the unit.
There are also 2 slots for SD cards, one is optional the other one is mandatory to do anything.
