Rebooting an Application Server (VM Pro) via Command Line (PuTTY)

Hello all,

I have a client that has a local IPO and an Application Server in their Cloud (Linux VM) as well as a Windows VM in their cloud to talk to it.

We have no access directly to these VM's

We can ping the VM Pro Application Server from the Windows VM, however Voicemail is showing down.

How can we reboot the server Via PuTTY the best way? I have got this kind of working however it seems like their is a better way:

The other way of service control is via the Web Control pages. :7071.

However if the service is started then it's likely a network or config error on the IPO.

Can you Ping the IP Office address from the Application server?
 
IPOLackey: For some reason, I was not able to get to :7071

Their application server was up and running for over 600 days, then just stopped working. The above command stated that the service was not running, it started the service and all was good. Just was not sure if there was a better way to do so than what I did above. It did work, however.

This happened to me once.
For some reason, my predecessor had decided to put IP Office on the application server (and how he did this, I have no idea.)
So when you tried to access via :7071 you couldn't.
Putty access would work just fine.

I wound up having to rebuild the application server properly so that, in this case it had the basic stuff : web manager, vmpro, one-x portal, etc. No IPO.

Haven't had a problem with port 7071 since.

Restarting just the necessary service (VM Pro) IS the better way
a common phrase in the linuc community is "Reboots are for hardware changes only"

however if you do want to reboot thewhole server the command is simply reboot :)


Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
