Rather Odd Situation in Excel Using VLOOKUP

I have an excel document with several sheets in it. I'm using the values in one sheet, passed into VLOOKUP to look up a corresponding value on another sheet. The odd thing is is that it wont work unless I put a single quote/apostrophe in front of the value.

For example, the value 120610625000 will give a "#N/A" in the lookup column...

But if I put in '120610625000 instead, it immediately looks up the right value.

Anyone ever had this problem, or have any idea how to fix it? I've never seen it before at all.

Thanks!

Hey Brooks,

It seems that you are trying to compare two different data types. Make sure that both of your values are formatted the same. In this case you would probably want both formatted as text.

HTH,
Eric
