I'm sure there's a word beginning with L which means 'wind blown soil' It's something like loerns. (no - I'm not doing a crossword!)

Can anyone help?

Columb Healy

There is a show 'L Word' - maybe it's about it. I am not sure who airs it but you can google it.

Thanks CC. I'm sure you all understand how anoying it can be when you just can't remember a word. It must be 40 years since I learnt it in geography class.

Yes, it used to anoy me. Now I use OneLook Reverse Dictionary to help me find such words.
OneLook's reverse dictionary lets you describe a concept and get back a list of words and phrases related to that concept. Your description can be a few words, a sentence, a question, or even just a single word.
Try it!

Thanks TheRambler
Brilliant site - and it would have found loess for me.

Thanks columb.
Also, you could have used the wildcard search: loe* or loe??
It is a nice tool to solve crossword puzzles too. ;-)

I frequently suffer from anomia*. That site will be a great help, TheRambler. Thanks!

*I wish this were a joke, but it is not.... I always forget that word, 'anomia'. Luckily I was able to find it using the OneLook Reverse Dictionary.

Oddly enough you remember that it started with L and correctly...I usually remember no word and wrong letter I think it starts with wich makes it impossible to find...
