OK, I did some searching and wasn't able to come up with anything relevant.

I'm using Acrobat 7.0.7 Standard, and Word 2003.

My Word source document has hyperlinks to internal locations, using either Word Bookmarks or Word Headings. I also have some hyperlinks created through cross-references.

However, when I convert this document to a PDF, the Word hyperlinks seem to take me to a totally random location in the document. In short, they don't work. On the Adobe forums, I thought I saw some indication this was a bug in 7.0.7, but I tried it in 7.0.5 and had the same results.

The cross-reference hyperlinks work great. Unfortunately, Word doesn't format the text like a hyperlink, so there is no underline, and it's not obvious in any way that there's actually a hyperlink there. :(

So, my questions are as follows:

1. Should Acrobat be handling these hyperlinks correctly? Or is this just not supported?

2. If it should, any suggestions as to what I could try?

Thanks!

Steve

I've been through this a lot lately. Though I don't have a definitive answer, I have noticed that while the links might not work for me, they work for others. That leaves the culprit as something on your computer getting in the way.

I unloaded and reloaded Acrobat. That ironed things out. I suspected 7.07 but I'm not so sure anymore.

As well, you could have a corrupt Word file.

Have since learned a little more on this topic. click on the Links icon of your PDF and check out the black boxes, which indicate the location of your hyperlinks. Have they shifted? They are easily dragged back in place.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, the document has hundreds of hyperlinks, so dragging them isn't really a great alternative. :)

I did try uninstalling and reinstalling, and so far so good!

Thanks!
