I have an avaya 8700 connected to a nortel 1000M rls 6.0 software via a QSIG trunk. I'm having a helluva time getting theis thing to work as I thought it should. I can dial extension to extension without a problem. I cannot make an extenernal call through the nortel using an Avaya phone. On a nortel phone If I access the trunk shouldn't I just have to dial another 9 and the seven of 11 digit number to make an outgoing call. or do I have to use the maintenance set to test from the tn.

I don't know the Avaya at all. But I can tell you about the Nortel. Your NCOS on the Nortel QSIG trunks has to be high enough to make the call. You will probably need to turn on INAC on that route to insert the BARS access code. You should be sending 9+1+xxx-xxx-xxxx to the Nortel. EXTT will probably need to be turned on in the CDB also.

Its set to INT and INCA is set to no. I will make the INCa change to yes. test and see if I need to change the RCLS to ext. I thought that was more of how it handled the call for ringing or messaging. The Ncos of the trunks were set high enough. Let you know how this turn out. Thanks for the help

Set INCA to yes
RCLS to EXT
EXTT to Yes
Call still will not complete. Even tried accessing the trunks via the maintence set and still call does not complete.
Arrrggg!!!

From your first post .... If you have already accessed a trunk, you do not need to dial a "9" again, all you should have to do is dial the number.
To test to see if there are restrictions causing your issue, from the Avaya, you can set up the ACOD as if it were an extension, this should return you dial tone from the Nortel(assuming that is what the telco is giving you) at which point you should be able to make your call.

Are your Qsig trunks are TIE? and you out bound trunks atr DID? If then you need to look at you net_data DITI needs to be YES for DID to TIE connections allowed.

Here is the setup on the nortel side. No tenant services used on this side. From the Avay side it appear that the call does not go out the Nortel. I was trying to test by grabbing a channel on the qsig trunk and dialing. It does not work with or wothout dialing the nine.

Try the following changes and also from the Avaya to the Nortel you will need to send the 9 1XXX-XXX-XXXX or 9 XXX-XXXX to the Nortel to go off Net.

Ncos sixty is equal to 6 which is my highest. I know i'm good there. Will try the unr tomorrow. tks

I see the pni does not match for each route. I always make sure that they do. May not be an issue?

After some thorough troubleshooting using trace and the d-channel messaging it was found that the call was routing correctly out the Nortel. We think the issue was the caller id number outpulsed by the Avaya. We both have the same DID carrier so the carrier was displaying the appropriate caller id name in their database based on the mumber being outpulsed by the Avaya. Still waiting for the Avaya techs to change the number so I can test. I appreciate all the responces as I have a few things to clean up based on the responces.
