Hello All!

Thanks in advance. I am running the IPO 500 Manager 6.2 (14).
IPO = 4.2(14)

We currently have some UMS licenses and I heard that you can push voice mails out to a Blackberry. I can't find any documents on that. Anyone using this feature? If so, how did you set that up?

Also, I heard that Avaya is going to start charging for updates and that R5 was the last free update, any truth to that?

Rob

Doc, we better back up. We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

You can push the VM wav file to email using Copy or Forward on the Voicemail tab.

If you BB Server supports it then you can open up the wav files on the blackberry as an attachment.

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.

under the voicemail tab, the voicemail email box with the options (off, copy, forward, and alert) is greyed out.

You never know when Avaya will start charging for updates there was talk that you would have to pay to go to R.5 but it never happened. I hope they stick with free updates as most of the competitors charge for them. I always put in the disclaimer that as of now software updates are available free of charge but Avaya has the right to change it at any time. CYA!!!!

It might work better on R5 with 2007 Exchange and Unified Messaging. That way, all messages are in your exchange mailbox.

Haven't tried it yet though.

I figured out that you have to put in an e-mail address in the Voicemail Email slot to change the Voicemail Email options..oopss my bad....

I am testing with a user that has a blackberry and I put in his email address in the Voicemail Email space and I did the copy option, also tested with the forward option, under Voicemail Email option. I checked the blackberry server at it does support .wav files. However, the voicemail did not carry over to the blackberry. any thoughts?

Does VM to email work normally? Not to a BlackBerry?

Can I suggest that you set your blackberry to sync with the Voicemail Inbox as well as your regular Inbox... ;-)

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.

Or get an iPhone - works much better for voicemail emails than a blackberry ;)

The voicemail inbox is an IMAP connection. that wont get pushed out to the blackberry. I dont have a blackberry i have a windows mobile phone and i added an IMAP account to my phone and then opened up IMAP from my firewall to my VM server and it will pull it that way.

is that sync option on the Blackberry or the BB server? Sorry I don't have a blackberry to test with so I am not sure, the execs here have them and I am testing with one of the execs but I don't have his phone.

It's on the Blackberry itself. Go into emails, hit the Menu button and go to Options the Email Settings. Once in here hit the Menu button again and select Folder Redirection and knock yourself out.

What Handsets/BES/BP versions are you using?

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.

If this doesn't work with the IMAP settings then you can always set up a rule which copies the VM emails to your regular Inbox on delivery. That will then redirect to the BB.

If the VM to BB email is that important then I suggest not using UMS and just forward to the regular Inbox.

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.

TheSmash,

I am looking on the users BB where you told me

"Go into emails, hit the Menu button and go to Options the Email Settings. Once in here hit the Menu button again and select Folder Redirection and knock yourself out."

The thing is that UMS is using IMAP but the voicemails are stored on a different sever (not the e-mail server), so I am not sure how to point it to that server.

I don't think you're going to get that to work.

My advice would be to not use UMS and IMAP and use email notifications instead. This will go to your regular Inbox.

Granted it wont be separate but you can always create Outlook rules to redirect to another folder. That way you can get it on your Blackberry.

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.
