Hello people

I ran the Microsoft upgrade advisor and it stated the Premium version was the apparent best buy however I purchased the Vista Ultimate upgrade.

When I try to install, the UPGRADE option is disabeled and the only other option is a CLEAN install.

But a microsoft rep said if I did a clean install it wouldn't work because I had XP Home i'd be upgrading.
She seemed to think the "Clean" was for Pro. ??????????

Then why isn't the Clean install disabeled ????

Im soooo confused .. lol
I think she was too

Anyway her advise is to return the Ultimate for a Premium version..

Sounds fishy to me any ideas

Thank you

Myrna

If you're trying to install the 64-Bit Version, you won't be able to Upgrade - it will only let you do a clean install.

Just a note, since I don't even know WHEN it asks you for 32/64-Bit, it might be before or after the Clean/Upgrade selection.

Hello Ploper

I have decided against a 64 bit install and the Ultimate came with 2 DVD's one 32 bit OS the other 64 bit OS

and a clean install has been my only option with either.

My question now is can I in fact make an Ultimate clean install and still have it work.

I just created a clone of my C: drive with Acronis True Image Home
So I should be okey in that respect

Thanks

Myrna
