I just reprogrammed our auto attendant and I have selector code 9 set for action 4 (prompted transfer)

When testing the menu when I dial 9 the system prompts me to "Please Enter Extention Number". I dial 154 and it says "your call can not be transfered to Extention 1, 5.

Please Enter the extension and press #" so I hit 154 again and it says "your call can not be transfered to Extention 4 Please Enter the extension and press #"

So I do agian and it says "you have entered an invalid option" and starts the auto attendant message again.

any Ideas?

Thanks in advance
Jeremiah

Are you testing this with your Cell Phone?

If yes, try using a Hard Wired Line.

Thanks for you answer merlinman but unfortunately I dont think that is the answer. I have been testing from a hard line. I have tried several trunks and several phones just to be sure. but even before that I was confident it wasn't a touch tone quality issue. I have been progamming this thing all day and it hasn't missed a button press.

one other note to clarify the issue: all three responses above happen but now that I have been testing even more I have noticed there is no particular order in which they occur.

if you have any other suggestions I am all ears!

one other note:

all of my extensions are 3 digit with the obvious exception of 0 for the operator.

If I try to prompted transfer to 0 it will succeed.

Hopefully all of your extensions are consistently at 3 digits. Now, check what the maximum extension length is set to - in the voice mail. If there is a mismatch - it creates transfer problems. If the maximum digit length in VM is set to "2" - then it tries to transfer after the 2nd digit - but you have no 2-digit extensions - hence the error.

Thank you Tom, I am quite sure you have found the source of my problem. I was assuming it was something like this but I am unfamilar with this setting. I am headed to look at the manuals now but if anyone has a moment it would be great if someone could point me in the right direction as to where/how I make this change.

Thanks
Jeremiah
