Hi
I only work on Nortel and know nothing about AVAYA.

I have a friend with a samll Partner key system about 8-10 yrs old working. My first Question is where could I find manuals to login etc.

Its a 3 line system with 8 to 10 ports on it.
Can I get analog out of this system Fax,modem etc ?

They would like to Fwd no answer and Fwd Busy to a plan old answering machine . (no Vmail on system)

I figured I could take an anlg port (if there is one) give it an ext and have the phones fwd no answer and fwd busy to that ext.which customer then could leave a message.

Thanks in advance for any help

It's only dialtone-VZ

avaya.com has all the manuals for it, first you will need to find out what Partner you are playing with.

yes, you can get dialtone out of any of the station ports. just plug in a single line device to it. depending on how that station is programmed for line access, you may have to dial 9 to get a co line instead of intercom.

thanks, tim

There is no assigned ports for anlg and digital ?
as in 1 to 8 in digital and 9 & 10 are anlg.

Thay have 8 sets pluged in now working which I asume are digital. Maybe I'm wrong I'll try a single line set on one of the active ports.

Hey VZ,

The Partner platform really doesn't use digital telephones. Each station uses 2 pairs of wire. (Cat 3 works most of the time).

The center pair is for your audio and the outer pair is for signaling.

If all the POTS lines are busy, the only way calls will go to any sort of voicemail is to order voicemail service from the LEC.

Partner Voice Messaging cards are very affordable and either a small or large card could be added to the system for very little money. [thumbsup2]

there is a lnk to avaya for manuals In the FAQS at the top of this page

So I just need to find the model and make sure the PC messaging card is compatable.

$100 seems cheap for a Vmail

$100
Small Pc messaging card for Partner ACS phone systems. Card has 4 mailboxes with 20 minutes per mailbox. Used, but in perfect condition with minimal usage.

Thx again

Hopefully, you have an ACS and a system display phone at extension 10. Should both of these be the case, while extension 10 is idle and on the hook, dial [Feat][5][9]. The display should say something like [ACS 3.0.1 CO 01]. In this example the system is telling you that:

ACS = Advanced Communication System
3.0.1 = Version 3.0.1
CO = Country
01 = Country Code 01 (USA)

When you were referring to "Fwd no answer and Fwd Busy to a plan old answering machine" was the reference to "busy" for the CO lines or the extensions?

I do have a question for TTT, could he put a plain old answering machine on let's say extension 17's aux port and have 17 in hunt group 7 for use both as a voice terminal and AA?

You couldn't really use the multiline phone when you put it in hunt group 7, because of the funky changes to its incoming ring, machine dialtone, auto line select, and of course mode codes on incoming calls.

You could hang an answering machine off an extension port, put that port in hunt group 7, and give extensions VMS cover. Only problem would be the mode codes when the answering machine answers. Could it ignore them and still play its OGM and take an ICM? It would only be a generic message, unless only one extension needed the VM coverage.

Even a 4 box PVM card off eBay would work much better, assuming it's an ACS.

Another option would be to use a covering ext, and have the answering machine on that ext. VMS cover should work as well, if answerung mach ext is in hunt group 7.
