Location wants to use Conf500 for 3 different groups using different short codes to access. If Conf500 already in use by one group, wants others to get busy when dial short code or pin number to access.
Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for you help.

can you not create a conference bridge for each group, then they dont need to get busy tones, or worry about other people being in the conference

Never argue with an idiot. bystanders won't be able to tell the difference.

so they are dialing in from outside, not internally?

or a bit of both?

im thinking of using user variables in some way.

would you have the same people setting up the calls each time?

how about if you could mark the conference room as "open" or "closed"

so when one group is about to use it, they "close" it because its in use. once they have finished they "open" it again

Probably not same people each time.
There is not a conference room, actually 3 groups are in different locations.

sorry when i say conference room i mean that part of the bridge.

Seems like that would work if the process is "simple"!!?!!
How is that done?

how do people currently dial into the conference? im assuming its a voicemail flow as you mentioned pin codes?

post how the call flow is laid out and i will tell you what to add where

Yes, it is a voicemail flow.
Currently dial *88-conf start point,
enter pin-check digits,
True - Assisted transfer to Conf500.

in voicemail pro create a new user variable.

in between the start point and the check digits add a test user variable action.
in the specific tab select the variable you created and in the "...matches the value below" put open

connect the true result to the check digits action.

connect the false action to a disconnect action and record a prompt on the disconnect saying sorry conference is closed.

create a new shortcode in VMpro named conferencestatus or whatever

connect the start point to a menu with touchtones 1 and 2 selected. in the menu record a prompt. "press 1 to mark conference open, or 2 to mark the conference as closed.

create a set user variuable action. link it to menu result 1. in the specific tab select the variable you created and in the "...with the following value" box type open.

create another set user variable action and link it to menu result 2. same process but "...with the following value closed"

i would hang a disconnect action off the back of each set user variable action say "you have set the conference as open" or closed, so they know that they have made the selection they want

in manager create a shortcode *55 or whatever is free.

code:*55
feature:voicemail node
telephone number:conferencestatus

done.

dial *55 or your shortcode.

press one to mark the conference as open and it will work as it does now.

press 2 and it will be closed and when anyone dials in they will get the prompt you recorded on the disconnect action.

phew!

Tom, your hair must be on fire after that! Really good of you to take so much time with the details. Will let you know when I have tested. Many thanks! Belinda

Tom,
I can't get working on R4.2.24- meaning the check digits or test user variable just doesn't work. Couldn't get that to work on a VM4.1.xx either.
Works great on a 4.2.19.
We're upgrading this IPO and VMPro TONIGHT because we couldn't get
prompted for pin number- just dumped into ConfMeetMe.
So haven't even gotten past pin number, much less open and closed.
Any ideas?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
