Help!!! We have an NEAX2000IPS/AD08 system that has been corrupted some how. We used the command E6XX to forward a new extension to the voice mail. The extension was tested and everything seemed to work fine - yesterday. Today, we come in and our DID line goes directly to the attendant instead of the receptionist's line and the attendant message is cut off before finishing. Also, voice mail on all other office extensions goes to the attendant message instead of that person's mail box. I checked the forwarding settings for the extensions and they are still as they were yesterday. Looking at the Dterm display, the station is forwarded from 5007 -> 5006 -> 5005 then back to 5007 again. The only way to get out is to hang up. If you can't tell, we are not familiar at all with the switch. Our IT person left 3 months ago and this is the first time we have had any reason to touch the PBX.

First quick fix would be reset the system using the little black push button on the CPU because if you didn't backup your changes the version on flash rom would cut in and you would be back to that level. the danger is when was it last backed up? Oh before you do that throw the make busy switch on the voice mail and give it time to cycle down. when you have done the reset un-busy the voicemail and wait about 10 mins for it to reload

Thanks for the reply. If the current configuration (without the new extension changes) wasn't configured, I think I would be in much more trouble since I might then have to reconfigure everything. Is there anything else you might try to check this out? It seems odd that the attendant will pick up, but the line is transferred after only 1 second of the message. I checked all the forwarding settings for the three lines 5007, 5006 and 5005 and they are all set to NONE. Is there anything else that would setup this transfer?

As for the DID calls going to voice mail rather than the proper extension I would check to see if the system is in Day mode, Mode A, Mode B, or Night. A reset as Ozzie suggested would at least get you back to day mode if your not sure how to check this.

As for the extensions not getting auto log on to their mailbox I would guess that you have your MCI link that is down. Do you have multiple sites hooked up to this switch? To find out if you have MCI you can look at the front of the voice mail card and see if you have a cable plugged into it which would then go to another card in the switch. It could be the CPU card or an AP-00 card.

Other than that I would call your NEC dealer to come look at your situation that way you don't dig yourself into a deeper hole than your already in. There is allot of "stuff" you can mess up in a hurry if you are not familure with the system.
