Hi all,
I am having trouble connecting to my company's switch using the Nortel Contivity client 4.86. I have successfuly installed the client, rebooted, and entered in the necessary information to connect. Another connection box pops up, and just as the text changes it reboots my computer.
I am new to VPNs, but as I was mucking around I noticed (all of these symptoms without the Contivity client running):
1) When I installed the Contivity Client, ipconfig reports another IP address bound to the Nortel IPSECSHM adapter; the ipaddress is in the same range as the one assigned to me from the ISP and is nowhere close to the IP of the gateway I'm trying to hit, nor of the network I'm trying to access.
2) Under the properties for my NIC, if I were to disable the installed filter, the IP address for my NIC resets to 0.0.0.0 but the IPSEC adapter keeps its IP
3) I cannot access the Internet while the Contivity client is installed (and hence I cannot attempt to diagnose why I can't connect)
My hunch is that the client I'm using is preconfigured to the network I'm trying to access, but I don't like that I cannot do normal internet tasks while the client is installed. All of this is done without a router in the way.
Any help is appreciated.
