Help Needed!

I am a project manager for the development of a visual fox pro application. The application runs perfectly on the programmer's and my own machines. However, during beta testing, several testers have experienced problems when printing reports. This problem is sporadic and errors include blank pages being printed, ink not being put down, etc. Does anyone know of any known printing conflicts in Visual FoxPro?

Any help would be appreciated!!!

It's possible the users don't have the same printers/drivers that you are testing with. You might need to make manual adjustments to your reports (See thread 182-38172).

What a nuisance! I noticed this listed on the MS Known bug list for VFP 6.0 as well.

prof2000,
Not sure if you have any responses to your problem, but it sounds like you have printer driver information stored in the reports. When you design a report the printer information is stored within the report table if your report is a dbf. You can eliminate the problem by setting the expr, tag, tag2 fields to "" (nothing) once the report is defined.

Another consideration is that if the FRX is 'included' in the project you're stuck with either the development systems printer drivers or 'none' if you've emptied out tag1 and tag2. If you leave the FRX's external and distribute them along with the application then they can pick up the driver information of the user's system. Once again, though, when you design it on a particular style printer (i.e. LaserJet) and the user runs it on a different style (i.e. InkJet) there will be some issues relating to printable areas, etc. At least with the FRX files 'local' you can support and modify the reports to suit the particular situation.
