I have a HP 4000 Printer, 3 users are sharing the printer, one PC (WIN98 SE) has problems, it is printing for a few hours, and then it stops printer, when I look in my printer folder, there are no printer, I restart the machine, the printer shows up and is fine for a few hours.

I re-installed the driver.
We did got infected by a virus (klez), but it did not came in thru this machine, and I could not find it on this machine either.

No error messages are coming up, computer is locking up.

Any suggestions.
Thanks,

Do you have McAfee anti-virus installed?

If so you'll need to replace the spoolss.dll file with version 4.90.3000 from Windows Me. Use the sfc utility.

This will generally fix the problem. You can get it here.

Yes I do have McAfee installed, is the windows me version from the spoolss.dll file the same like in Windows 98 S.E.?
Thanks

The spoolss.dll file from Me will work with a Windows 98 OS. It's just a newer version. It will not work with a Windows 95 OS however.

Use the sfc utility to find and replace the file. Download spoolss.dll from the link in my earlier post.

What version of spools should I use with windows 95 as I am having the same problems as described above?
