I have a PRI that is going up and down after it was cutover. I believe that telco is using a siemens switch
NI2,B8zs,esf,desending, we can make calls and take calls just fine for up to several hours at a time then it will go down possibly several times in a row. Telco says that they can loop to the smartjack just fine but when they loop to the card they get errors. any ideas on my next step?

Check the setting coming from the telco. They don't always configure correctly. If you have a T-berd or a T-Comm monitor the T-1 to be sure that you are receiving what they say they are sending. Also look to the build-out for the T-1. How far are you from the Smart Jack? You might need to adjust the dB to a different setting to match the distance.

15 floors from the smartjack as I was told. Probably several hundred feet. What setting is that? iS that the line build?

Yes the LBO or Line build Out.

You must try to evaluate the distance between your KSU and the Telco jack.

Good Luck!!!

Why is the smart jack 15 stories from your floor,it needs to be on the same floor or inn the office space that you have.
I've seen that distance cause trouble

Unions won't allow Telco up in the suites. As per what I was told.

SOUNDS LIKE BS TO ME

I've run into this myself and it went on for months. Turned out to be the housing for the smart jack (telco's responsiblity).

Also, what software is it?

What type of cable are they running to the 15th floor? There could be a problem there to.

Thirty year old riser cables. I have the tech on site now. They put a loopback upstairs and it ran dirty. So it is the riser or the telco package in the basement.

My money is on the cable, is there any way you can get them to run shielded cable up to your location?

From what was told to me (8 states away) we can but the install would require several floors be bored and an approval from the holding company(more BS). The install could only be done by union companies (my first time dealing with unions and don't want to step on anyones toes). We have a vendor meet with telco and the riser company tomorrow so I will know more then.

BY CHANCE IS THIS A SHARED TENANT BUILDING, SURE SOUNDING LIKE IT. IF IT IS THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING YOU SERVICE

Not a shared tenant, but a seperate company is responsible for the risers, and the telco can not even go up into the suite to test as of right now. I'm going to try to purchase a shielded cable up into the suite. I will know later if the Telco will go into the suite if we own the feed.

I know I am coming into this late but is the telco testing up to your system's DTI? I had similiar trouble and we set up a tbird by plugging one end into the DTI and the other into the smartjack. We were able to determine the trouble by comparison.
Are you getting errors on your Norstar?
Definitely need shielded cable for the PRI connection to the system regardless.
Did Union technicians install your system or just the cable feed cable? Could this be a warranty issue?

Not a shielded cable as of yet, not a union key system install, after the riser tech tested the risers again, telco can not even see the dti anymore. I have a tech going to site in the begining of the week to test in the suite. Good thing this has not had the lines ported over to the PRi yet or I'd be in the doghouse.

What metro area is the site?

Glad to hear we have the freedom to pay taxes & to work anywhere in our own country.

If the destination code for your PRI-A outgoing line pool is set to "9", try changing it to "9Any".

I have found out about smart jacks that they have a regenerative repeater that activates on loopbacks, I now always check out a smart jack with a loopback plug at the smart-jack. this actually tests out the smart jack in its operating condition and not in its own self test mode. Have had problems in the past where the smart jack has died but would test fine on the telco's loopback.

also: when I see dropping regularly on a T1 I re-check all of the clocking options and hardware, it may be clock slipping on you.
