i HAVE A MERLIN LEGEND, IT'S BEEN WEEKS THAT WE KEEP GETTING DROP CALLS . we cannot dial out for few minutes and then it comes back up.Before getting the drop call, we hear some statics. I called few time our service provider, but everytime they come over to test the line they don't find any problem on the line. I call my vendor and took a look at our system and told me it's coming from the service provider. who should I trust?
I printed out the error log this is the last error that I got :

----------------------------------- ANNOTATION -----------------------------------

Can anyone please help me on solving this problem.
Thanks.

David

David,

I would be very interested in knowing the exact model number and description of each and every one of the cards you have.

As in 517_WHAT_15 for the T1 card and all the others as well.]

It would be meaningful to see 517_X_15 100D, and 517_Y_12 012T&R or what ever they may be.

Hi Merlinman,

I am not sure if this is what you want to see. If this is not the model number let me know where it's located on the card

I have : card01- power supply
card02- processor
card03- 408GS/LS-MLX
card04- 408GS/LS-MLX
card05- 408GS/LS-MLX
card06- 008
card07- power supply
card08- 007 MLM
card09- 016 with ring Gen.
card10- 008MLX
card11- 100D 1DS1 Trunk

Try 4pair testing wire from 100D to providers smart jack, a wire may be loose somewhere. Also print out pri and trunk info to be sure programmed correctly.

ok,
Between the pri and the smart jack there is the csu , and the alarm is coming from the network.
I am pretty sure the cable is fine in our facility. But I will check it again.
here is the pri info:

OK, now we need specifics!

In Maintenance > Inventory, what is the:

Hardware, Firmware numbers of the 100 D Card?

If it is:

Hardware 0A, Firmware 91

That means you have a 517M15, which has a problem with PRI & 016 cards in the same switch.

A 517E will work, even though it's a bit older vintage.

Hey Taverny!

Ken1713 has found the problem, but he posted in the wrong place.

I copied his answer here!

Bottom line, you have the D channel in the 70 Pool, NOT GOOD!

I know not why I did not see that.

Once you make this work, thank KEN for the astute observation!

ken1713 (Vendor) Aug 25, 2004
Your PRI Trunk #836 is missing from pri lines, also you have trunk #840 programmed in the 70 pool which is the common channel. Reprogram these lines and you should be alright.

Thank ken1713
for this valuable post!

Hi MerlinMan,

I am sorry it took so long to reply , but I had trouble to log into the forum.
ok , so you are positive that will solve the problem ,
I already call and sent an e-mail to my vendor to solve this problem , but he doesn't seem to reply to my call.
I guess I will have to make the changes myself
How can I do to make those changes , and can I do it while everyone is on the phone, or should I do it after business hours?
Thanks to both of you.

Hi guys,

I am still having some trouble with the phone system , I haven't change anything as instructed , since I don't really know how to do it.I 've try to contact my vendor , but he doesn't seem to be inteerested in repairing our problem , can you please help me on fixing the problem or to recommend me to someone in the chicago area, I will appreciate.

the L-1 flag on the circuit needs to be changed from no to yes, for DMS 100.

Merlinman,

How do you convert the hardware and firmware versions to a 517_15 type of description?

Thanks in advance,

J

DrJ100,

I have a secret source.

A Large reseller I know had one of their staff folks do a test.

Post the HW FW and I can (most of the time) tell you what the _15 is.
