I'm switching from a BCM400 to IPO system. When I tested the line this past Saturday night, it didn't work. I plugged the line into the correct IPO port, the LED on Comcast equipment stay red.

SWITCH TYPE: NI2
CHANNEL ALOC: 23>1
CLOCK QUALITY: NETWORK
HAUL: 0-115FT
LINE SUB TYPE: PRI
ADMIN: IN SERVICE
PROVIDER: LOCAL TELCO
FRAMING: ESF
ZERO SUPP: B8ZS
LINE SIGN: CPE
INCOMING DIGITS: 4
CRC: ON

Line works fine with BCM. Anything I should check?

Do you need a cross over cable? Or possably was it a cross over and now you don't need one?

Make sure it is a T1/PRI Crossover and not data. Also make sure the PRI channels are set to In Service since the default is Out of Service.

I've never had to change cables when moving from BCM to IPO. If you put a loopback plug into the IPO PRI port, does it "go green"?

How do I create a loopback plug?
I will check my current cables pinout. How would I know if its a cross or not?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks Tommy,
Also found info on how to create lookback. Will test tomorrow.

If memory serves comcast adtran does use a pri crossover. Pin 1 to 4 and 2 to 5 on the modular should do it. Also I prefer to receive 10 digits from comcast and then strip what I want in the ipo.

Tested with loopback, LED: green flashing

Also spoke to the tech who installed the system.

He said, "Sometimes you have to put the channels out of service and then back into service after the circuit is connected. If you click on the channels tab, you'll see a list of channels. Select all the channels, shift+click, and set them all to out of service. Send the config and then go back and set them all to in-service and send again."

He also said I can use same cable I used with BCM. I did look closely at the cable ends and the connections don't look like 1-4 and 2-5.

I am going to create my own cable.

A crossover switches transmit and receive.
A loopback will always indicate greens as long as the card is good since it just sends the signal back in not matter which is used for Tx/Rx.

I tried again tonight but with a new cable. Strange, it worked. I was able to call out and receive a call to my extension.
Only the number that showed up on my cell phone was not the number I want to show up.
How do set the correct caller id number coming from my system?

Thanks again!

Since it has nothing to do with the original thread you should make a new one.
Makes finding answers in the future easier.
