Hello

its is my first time to configure PRI card in avaya ip office r8.1. The situation that i found is that PRI PORT IS inservice while all channels are out of service! is this normal for PRI or something is wrong?

99 times out of 100 issues with PRI are with the line provider.
have you checked the PRI circuit with a Trend or similar?

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Indeed, however in UK/Eur it's pretty much plug and play with ISDN, but in the US/other there are many different flavours of ISDN setup and if it doesn't match what they need it isn't going to work. Basically, where are you based and what setup info did the provider give.... if any? :)

We always have to ring BT to liven the ISDN 30 just before making the switch live. this is for security reasons.... imagine, dodgy character breaks into a new office block, plugs in his toll fraud friendly pbx and racks up 000's in calls before the customer moves in!

These days Sean BT will sometimes make the circuit live after a period of out of service purely so they can start to bill the customer, this is usually if it's in over a week or two, seen it a couple of times. :)

Thanks guys, as I said it is my first time to install this card in IPO, Now before i connect it to the service provider i would like to check if it is ok within the box, what i face is that the port is inservice admin status but for the channel all shows out of srvice admin status (i guss they should be inservice) so is that correct status or something wrong?

We can't tell you unless you tell us how it's configured and answer the questions from the above posts...

Is the led green on the trunk card (pri card in the IPO)?
If not then there is no (good) connection.
What kind of cable are you using?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

when they switched our PRI to IP Office 8.1 from an old Panasonic system they literally had to go into each channel and mark it In Service....that's it.

Give it a shot

I am using back to back crossover cable for testing and clock sorce set to CO, i dont have any parameters from provider side as for now the box is not yet onsite.

the LED light iw green.

I am located in TANZANIA, EAST AFRICA

So what are you plugged in to? It will be out of service if it isn't plugged in to anything....:)

Hi there.
Make sure that your switch is set to the right type as well; for example, here in North America we use a DMS100 switch.

Good Luck

also I have had to call the provider to turn the pri up as they always busy it out here in the USA, that's why a loop back plug is useful so the co will see it in service.

Thanks guys for your usefull comments, my point is ; before i connect my box to the service provider what will be the Admin status of the PRI channel by using the System status monitor? should they be in service or out of service?

If it is not connected to anything it is not going to show in service in System Status.
