Hi All,

We have had a replacement BCM 400 setup as our last box died on us a few days back, on the old box, when a user dialed 9 for an outside line the Word "Line" would appear, then if you entered the number you wanted to dial it would display as 01691123456

Since the swap over, pressing 9 gives you access to an outside line, but nothing is displayed about "lines" and the number on the screen appears as 901691123456. Now this is not really a problem, but I would prefer it to be set to how it was before.

Any ideas where I need to go in the BCM Element Manager to makes these cahnges?

Thanks

Matt

How are you connected to the LEC? (T-1 or analog).
Depending on how it was configured prior to the crash, it may have been programmed for line pool access and now it is configured in routing. Check to see which one is programmed.

Thanks Guys,

Yes it use to say "Line 06" or "Line 08" (We have 8 Lines)

We are in the UK, and the lines are ISDN connections.

Where in the BCM Element Manager should I be looking to find where to set it so that when a 9 is pressed, it shows up a Line Number, then dial the number?

I "think" we are on PRI??

Thanks

Matt

The actual physical lines have not been changed from how the system was setup prior to the crash to how it is now, so it's got to be something within the programming but I'm not too sure what I need to be looking for?

Thanks

Matt

That is why needing to know if POTs or PRI

PRI does not show "Line 06" or "Line 08"
and (We have 8 Lines).

PRI uses channels, it does not show what channel you are calling out on.
You can get a fractional PRI i.e. 8 channels only required out of 23.

Line names are under Telephony/Active Lines/XXX
You would see a line name when using analog trunks that are using a Pool such as Pool A and that access code 9 is told to use pool A.

With PRI you setup routing instead of pool with a dest code using 9.

If it is PRI it seems to me its working fine.

Do you see 8 individual lines at reception set?.

Could it be the the Lines were NAMED in the old system

That's all this sounds like to me is simply line names. Go in and change the trunk/line number to display whatever you want. At least that's the way I'm taking it.

I've been in and checked the Display name of the lines and that is not the problem. The Lines are labelled as Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, Line 5, Line 6, Line 7, Line 8

But when we press a 9 for an outside line, it still only shows up as 901691 and not 01691

Again, the system is working and the number is dialled, but it's bugging me why it's showing up like this now and not how it was before!

Does not sound like PRI to me but I am with Nortech1 in that the Routing could be in play.

When using Pools and Pool codes you will see the line after 9 then the phone number dialed: "Line 008" then "XXX XXX-XXXX"
When using Routes and Dest codes it shows dest code and number dialed: "9 XXX XXX-XXXX"
Does this sound correct for the pro's?

Go to your Dialing Plan and see if any of the first 2 routes are told to use a pool and also check id Dest code 9 is in play.

If you play with your lines then remember what you did as it may have an impact on other items.

Thanks Curlycord,

It sounds like it was setup how you just described it:-

When using Pools and Pool codes you will see the line after 9 then the phone number dialed: "Line 008" then "XXX XXX-XXXX"

How do I get the system to work like that again?

If I go into Dialing Plan - Routing I see the following:-

Routes Tab

Route - 000
External Number (Blank)
Use Pool - A
DN Type N/A
Service Type - N/A
Service ID - N/A

Destination Codes Tab
Destination Code - 9
Normal Route - 000
Absorbed Lenght - All
Wild Card: 0 and all the number boxes are un-ticked

I've just worked it out... I've removed the destination code from the routing, and added it to the Access Code for Pool A and it now shows "Line 8" then the number as it was before!

So thanks very much all for your help on this one!!

Just out of intrest, why would I want to use this type of access to the outside line over the other type?

Thanks All

Matt
