can anyone please tell me if I can hook up an I2004 phone on a 802.3AF switch to retrieve the power from the switch directly to the phone?
Because the adapter which comes with the phone has an output of 16Volts and I do not want to blowup the new phone.

Yes you can. You will need a 'Y' adaptor cord (RJ45 female to RJ45 male and the power lead). Sorry I don't have the part number to hand.

Actually mabey, mabey not. Unless the phone was very recently shipped say in the last 6 weeks it is not 802.3af compliant and requires an external adapter by power dsine. They are now shipping 802.3af compliant phones which I have been told need no adapter at all but I have not used one yet but have seen the official notification from Nortel.

On the box it says:
I2004 IP Telephone w/o Power Supply;
Shipping Date: 2004-05-03
This is with integrated switch.
