Let me see if someone else can answer this and make sense casue so the people that tried to answer my question only further confused me and the issue.

I can not change the DN because I can not gain access to the CONFIG even though I have reset the system PW to default by using the **STARTUP procedure.

Am I correct that this should have defaulted the system passwords back to 266--- and thus allow me into MAINT and CONFIG?

If so the peblem is that I still can not access the MAINT or CONFIG.

Just can't change the DN. I don;t have the templete but that hase never been a problem doing it from memory. After I log in what is the step by step procedure for changing the DN perhaps I am enter something wrong.

It is a MICS with a fiber NAM and I do not have the version but it is at least 10 years old at this site.

try and upgrade to the next level of software...if its 10 yrs old then try 3.0..that should be close..but any upgrade will do

Any upgrade will do for what. All I am trying to do is change the DN. ALl of the other DN's on this system are in the 2000 series so why do I need to upgrade and will not be possible at this site.

I believe this is a P/W issue. If all the other DN's are in the 2000 range that means at some point they were changed.

to try and get a newer version of software so you can get it to do whatits supposed to do...also what happens when u use NRU and rad to access the software....saying you cant is not an excuse...it is part of the trouble shooting ..you are on a version of software not supported by nortel any more...we are going to start to see these types off issues due to the age of software so when i say upgrade it is just to kinda burp the thing..i did not say spent 2 grand on a upgradde ..if you are a tech you should have access to some older software that is a higher release than the one in there now...this site is one of the best for norstar help..iether follow it or go somewhere else reposting is not going to get a different answer its still going to be the same.
IF The option is not there to change dn and u cant tell us an sp version or even a valid software release number then at this time i ssay upgrade and tell us how it went

I think we do need more info before we can help you. When you enter Feature ** 266--- what does it say in your display?
