Hi, We upgraded the cluster over the weekend to MCD4.2 and powered down ops man. I'm quite impressed so far, just have a few questions:

Is there any way to automatically schedule a backup?
We have loads of entries in User and Device configuration with no number against them. Is this anything to worry about? Is there any way to delete these on mass?
For SDS is there any form I need to go into to nominate a 'Master' system? Or are they all equal?

Thanks in advance

Also when I try to rename a tel dir entry I get a message stating 'No Matching Records Found', and I have to delete the entry and re-add it.
I seems to me like the controllers don't have access rights to change entries on other boxes??

Yes opsman will still continue to perform backups you just need to schedule them

As for the names with no numbers this is perfectly normal as the SDS uses the names for the RDN
I have found if you have a lot of ACD paths and groups they appear at the top of the list without extn numbers

Actually if you have a cluster of 3300's you should mark the extensions with no name as local so that they appear in the local only form. Otherwise in 4.2 all extensions should have a name.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Sorry mis read the original post. If you have names with no number then you should really delete them but only for house keeping. All extension numbers should have a name or be in the local only form. There is no master in a cluster at 4.2 using SDS and RDN. Basically any change in one should be reflected in all others if the form data is shared.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

if you delete them will they still be dialable across the cluster?

especially ACD paths

I have left them alone but I think I will try and delete one and see if it removes it from the RDN form

They have two appearance in the user and device config form. One with just their name, and the other with name, number, and device info.

Will ops man backup MCD 4.2 3300s that are being synced with SDS and RDN?

Yes opsman continues to backup with SDS

If you have duplicate entries then you can safely remove these especially if the other entry has the correct info

MCD 5.0 will support embedded scheduled Back-ups. When Enterprise Manager 7.0 is released there will be no OPS Man application left.

I've had look on Mitel online and the latest ent man is only showing support for MCD 4.1 onwards. Shall I wait for the next release of ent man which shows full MCD 4.2 support??

Entman 6.2 with opsman 9.2 supports 4.2

And with that I could still sync the tel dir via RDN and SDS, but backup the 3300s??

Cheers

Yes that is correct

Opsman no longer has the teldir database so noe it's only fuction is backups, timesync & maint tasks

As of 4.1 both time sync & maint tasks are embedded so opsman is only good for backups
