CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH APACHE?
IM TRYING TO MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO the INTERNET TO BE ABLE TO SHARE FILES WITH FRIENDS BUT, I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS USING THE D-LINK 4500 EXTREME GAMING ROUTER I DONT KNOW HOW TO PORT FORWARD ON THIS ROUTER.
PLEASE HELP.
THANK YOU

Set port forwarding to 192.168.0.10. for both tcp and udp. For http the port is 80 for https the port is 443. This will be the ip you will be changing the server to also. Do you need help changing the ip address on the server?

yes please..i need all the help i can get.
and thank you very much for all your help.

ok it says UDP PORT RANGE 192.168.0.10 OF APACHE 1 IS INVALID what do i do now?

Under the "Basic" tab you will see an option that says "Network Settings". Click that and you will see a page with "DHCP Server Settings". Note the line that has DHCP IP Address Range". Set that to 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.255. Now when computers on your net work are setup to get an ip address automatically, the will be given an address within that range leaving everything up to 99 for static addresses that you assign manually.

ok i did that and now i get a pop up box that says
THE DHCP END ADDRESS 192.168.0.255 IS NOT VALID IN THE LAN SUBNET 255.255.255.0

192.168.0.254, 255 is the broadcast address you can't use that.

On a network, you should not use the all 0 or all 1 address, one is the network and the other the broadcast, in your case 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.0.255.

ok so what do i put in the DHCP IP ADDRESS RANGE TO WHAT?
WHAT DO I PUT IN THOSE 2 BOXES?

this is what it says under the bisics tab
in network settings
DHCP IP ADDRESS RANGE 192.168.0.136 TO 192.168.0.199
DHCP LEASE TIME 1440 ( MINUTES )
ALL THE OTHER BOXES ARE BLANK

Brain fart! Elgrandeperro is right. Sorry, I wasn't thinkin'. That Range is fine for the time being. If you want you can change it to something like 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.254. Now all your other machines should get their ip addresses automatically. Did you set the ip address for the server yet?

no i havent..please help me go threw all these steps if you dont mind.
im sorry if im a boother but, im just trying to learn and as you can see im very new at this.
thank you

Go to the Control Panel. Then click on Network and Internet Connections. Then look for one that says Network Connections it sould be in the lower group. Click on it and your connections should be listed. If you have just one right click on it and click properties. let me know when you are there.

There should be a list box with some items checked. Click on the one that says Internet Protocol [ TCP/IP to highlight it then click properties.

Click the button that says "Use the following IP address. In the boxes put this info:

IP Address 192.168.0.10

subnet mask 255.255.255.0

gateway 192.168.0.1

Click on the button that says :Use following dns server address".

Preferred dns server 192.168.0.1

that should do it. You will more than likely lose the connection while it resets. You may have to reboot also.

ok ive made those changes let me reboot if it tells me to in the meen time what do i do next?

At the command line type ipconfig and see if it took. If everything is ok, you should be able to access the server from any where on your net work by typing 192.168.0.10 in the browser. From outside your local network, you'd use the public ip address.

what is the local ip address i would use outside my network?
and also can i share files with my friends now or do i need to do something else still?
and how would i go about sharing files?
thank you
