Hi,

I turned on my computer this morning and it loaded fine. But then advertisements popped up about system failure and other things. Every time I restart my computer they reappear. I never opened my internet explorer and they appear. Also the first time I opened my browser my homepage was different.

I believe this is adware? How do I get rid of it?

I have and have run ad-aware se but it still appears after I restart.

Any help would be appreciated

Do you have the latest updates from Adaware? Also have you tried running "Spybot Search and Destroy"? It's is also freeware I use along with Adaware. Here's the link:

It asks for a donation but it is not necessary for download. Once installed make sure you also have the latest updates before running. FYI.. It sees Adaware as spyware but it is not. You can simply choose to ignore it if it detects it.

Have you checked in Ad-Remove programs to see if anything strange is there? Also have you checked your startup processes by clicking start/run and typing msconfig. Select the startup tab and this will list anything you have in your startup processes. You can simply select what you do and don't want to start at startup.

If you do change anything you'll getting a warning and possibly another upon first re-boot. You can simply choose not to have it display the warning for future re-boots. One word of warning, this is something I'd make sure I had some knowledge of before attempting. You can do a little damage here.

Also, are you always logged into your PC as the administrator? If so I found that most users cut down (by about 98%) the amount of spyware infestations they get by simply creating a general user account that has zero installation rights. Use this on a daily basis. When you need to install something, simply log off the user and log back on as the administrator. Complete the install and then log off the administrator and back on as the user.

Hope This Helps,

Check out MS Antispyware man, it used to be Giant Antspyware and I've found it did better than adaware.
It's free and legal for the full version, I recommend it.
