Hi all, I have a Polycom Soundstation 2201-03308-001. I have setup an analog port exactly like our fax line. When I plug an analog phone into the port I get dial tone and can call out. I can then hang up and dial again. (I presume this means the port is setup correct) When I plug the Soundstation in I get dial tone for the first call but then it never seems to go off hook? It times out and just has a continuous tone. I have to unplug it and then I can re make a call..Any ideas before I throw it out?
Cheers

I have setup an analog port exactly like our fax line" what do you mean by this? The Polycom is to be treated as just a standard POTS/Analogue phone no settings or alterations are required. What type of line do you have and how do you finish the call on the soundstation? :)

I mean I made sure the setting in IP Manager for the extension is the same for a FAX line we have (but made sure the base ext was correct)..I thought it needed to be that way? (I'm no phone guy) Before I did that when I plugged in the SoundStation and tried to dial out I got a beeping sound like when your digital phone says "incompatible". If I plug it into an unused analog port it will not work at all...

What happens when you ring into it, is that OK? Does a standard analogue phone in the same port work ok? I have used a few of these and all I do is press the off-hook key (picture of handset) and dial then press again to hang up, then I can repeat to make another call :)

When I plug a regular analog phone (same port) in I get dial tone and can phone out. I can hang up and do this again. Not for the Sound Station though..It never goes "off hook" I have to unplug it from the port to get dail tone back..I dont have a off hook key :( just an on/off key..This does nothing.

I have this same issue. Polycom Sound Station will not go on-hook. At first I thought it had to do with the settings on the ATA (PAP2t) we use to supply analog lines for our VOIP. But I plugged the Sound Station into a POTS that we have for emergency call-out and the same thing happened.

This tells me it is a defective Sound Station, but I can't figure out how. If I unplug the Polycom RJ-12 the ATA goes on-hook. When I plug the Polycom RJ-12 back in, the ATA stays on-hook UNTIL I make a call. Then when I end the call (by flashing or pressing "OFF" on the Polycom, the line remains off-hook. The Polycom is no longer ON as there is no sound or lights, but the line remains off-hook. Eventually the line will time out in accordance to the settings on the ATA or POTS.

Could it have something to do with the RJ-12 connector on the Sound Station? Is the Sound Station not generating the correct on-hook signaling.

I am not overly familiar with the POTS on-hook signal. Could someone provide some insight into the process.

Thanks.

I would suggest that you take the Polycomm to a POTS line that is not connected to the IP Office, a separate fax line, or even take it home with you connect it there.

If the Polycomm behaves properly on a separate POTS line, they you probably have an IP Office problem, but if you get the same behaviour on that line, then you have a defective Polycomm.

I have 3 Polycomms running in the 6 systems I manage, and they all work fine with the default settings for an analog line.

VM Pro 4.1.40 (not central)
6 WAN connected locations, no SCN

jrtudor, that's exactly what happens with mine!!! I will take home and test..
