While waiting for my sister to finish work the other night, I noticed an odd thing in the way this particular store she works at catagorized their departments. One department was "Woman's", another department was "Men's", and a third department was "Kids".

Woman's - Singular possessive
Men's - Plural possessive
Kids - Plural non-possessive

Does this inconsistency seem odd to anybody else?

SilentAiche,
I was kidding when I quoted your signature. I found it funny, no worries!

Grande,

Your response was [red]far[/red] more generous than my petty post deserved. I can't wait to grow up, which kinda sucks, since I'm already over 40.

Sigh.

[gray]thanks again. Somehow, I took your note the wrong way. BTW: I really am a big fan of Carly Simon.[/gray]

In other news, I'm no longer a teenager as of today. Being an adult sucks :-(

[red]Happy Birthday![/red]

FWIW, I'm pretty sure you'll handle the whole "adult" thing with ease.

Best of luck!

Participants in this thread might be interested in (or amused by) the Web site of the Apostrophe Protection Society at []. It includes "Examples Pages" with photos depicting "apostrophe abuse"--mostly in the UK. Sigh! It's obviously a distressingly widespread phenomenon throughout the English-speaking world.
