Hi Guys we have the ip office 403 and we are experiancing that the phones go dead during calls or while making calls.(2010, 2050) When it goes dead you get noise on the phone and nothing else. To get the phones working again it needs to be unplugged for about 20 seconds and then plugged back in. The main unit has been replaced but it is still happening to phones on the expansion units. We are on the latest version of the software.

Thanks

Ok, there could be a couple of reasons... I will state the obvious to try 1st.
Reboot your phone system, if you see any modules other than your main control unit reboot while rebooting then you have one of two problems.
1) wiring problem on a phone on expansion module that is rebooting.
unplug all phones on module and reboot again to see if it happens again.
2) If all phones unplug on expansion module and rebooting happens on that expansion module you have a expansion module problem on another module than the one your seeing reboot.

Hope this helps... Ideal system should reboot and only visually see the control unit flash red from green as it reboots, none of the expansion modules should turn from green to red during reboot.

I would say you fault lies with Firmware 2.0(16) there were many issues with the TDM inconnect, this seems to be resolved in 2.0(18). We have had approx 10 sites with this issue using DT30's and DT16's. DS's were uneffected

Just a thought.

What Firmware are you running ?
What Expansion Modules are you running DT's or DS ?

Look at my post regarding Screaching Phones !!

Thanks for the tips I will look at it later on today. We are on firmware 2.0(16) are there not other issues with 2.0(18)

Thanks

IPGuru, found some networking related problems, however 2.0(18) seems to be a very good build from what I have seen so far at 5 large sites.

Other issues with 2.0(18) ??? I had heard somebody was told not to download from the web site, what are the issues with the CD ???

Hi MRIPO I think the issues I was talking about are the same as what IPGuru mentioned. We have 4 sites all interconnected but we use cisco routers for the wan connections not the IP Office. Does the issues mentioned by IPGuru in connection with routing only effect users that use the IP Office as the wan router. Thanks for your advice.

The problems I found with 2.0(18) were all lan related.
in short we could not route data lan1-lan1

1) bootp entrys can get corrupt when performing an upgrade
Nothing to worry about in your case, I saw this myself today, seems OK if you recreate them from start.

2) IP routs will no longer merge
Confirmed fault will be resolved in 2.1

3) IP routing does not seem to work when routing over the lan ie

IPO 1 192.168.42.1
ip route 192.168.43.0/24 gateway 192.168.43.1 dest Lan1
IPO2 192.168.43.1
Ip route 192.168.42.0/24 gateway 192.168.42.1 dest Lan1
I have not as yet tested this. I would say this is correct with IPGuru's experence.

Make sure if you have networked sites that you upgrade both to 2.0(18) if this is the path you chose to take.

Thanks to everyone for your help will let you know the outcome, any dates on the realase of 2.1

Hi

How did you get on - I have a 403 a 16 port POTS extention and an S0 box. I experienced exactly the same as you - mostly on the POTS cut offs and noise - and now - the whole thing is DEAD can't reboot - nothing. Any Ideas?

Thanks - and god bless the mobile phone

Hi I have done some tests it is not a cabling fault, we where having the same problem on previous firmware versions. The main unit has been replaced the next step is to upgrade the firmware to the latest or replace the expansion units.

Regards

Well - I did a DTE reboot to default configuration. Then rebuilt. At the moment it is working fine.....have also upgraded to 1.4 (build 22).

I have IP 403 - 16 POTS expansion and an SO8.

Problem is I have lost my licence keys!

Hi chrisbee,

Do you not have an old config that you can open offline and copy the licence key?
