Phone Company Stuttered Dial tone

I have a Compact ICS 4.1 Norstar with M series phones.
Customer has voice mail on Line 1 with stuttered dial tone. Wants to have a visual indication when new messages so they don't have to keep picking up on Line 1. Can Norstar handle via software programming or do I need to get a 3rd party equipment solution from someone like Hello Direct or Sandman? Thanks.
 
You must have a CLID card- then it depends on the type of signal the CO is sending. You will not know until you try, so third party may be best.
 
Depends on the C.O. , DMS100 set lines to visual msg int. Can have both Stutter and visual. Programed Cic's voice msg center to retrieve msg.
 
try this:
Terminal & Sets
Telco Features
Feature Assignment
Show line: 001
Extl VMsg set: Y

make sure line 001 is assigned to the set. it should say **MESSAGE FOR YOU** after someone has left a message and there is stutter dial tone.
 
to verify that you have the correct signaling from the telco to activate the visual message indicator on a ICS with CI trunk cards.

empty out the mailbox.
wait 2 mninutes
put butt set on line that has voicemail on it
leave a message on telco mailbox
listen for a "caller id type" data string (on a visual message indicator line this data string probably will not need to ring the line before passing the data. the data is a bit in a normal caller id string.
after 2 minutes check to see if you have stutter dial tone back again. if you do and havent heard the data string then you do not have the VMI from telco.
