Got a new guy in the company. He is sitting at a desk that use to have someone there, so the line there is known to work.

I got a handful of Meridian M2008 phones (think thats their proper model) and when I tried plugging them into the line, the line indicator lights blink once and then I get no sound.

Something Im not doing? These aren't plug n play? =)

Thanks.

That port could very well be disabled. If you know what the phone number is supposed to be, then go to LD 20 and prt the Dn, then stat the TN, enlu l s c u clears it up.

the line being unplugged will disable the port

That means the set was plugged in a jack that is configured for an analog device. Trace the jack on the frame to see what TN is crossed.

If it is continually flashing then it is probably an Analog port. One flash then the port is probably just disabled.

yes. when i plug it into the jack...the little black triangles on the phone do a quick blink and then thats it.

when i pickup the phone, i get nothing. however, when i press numbers i do hear small beeps, but of course...i get no further beyond that.

been bogged down with other stuff today (trying to unscrew an order with Dell) so i havent been able to reach the meridian console to try those solutions.

It should recover by itself tonight as part of midnight.

Thanks for the help. Now I know that disconnected phones will be disabled! Good stuff!

Brings me to a new question.

The extension has an employee's name on it that moved onto another part of the company. How do I replace "Susan" with the new guy "Gil"?

(Like when I did the LD20, it came up with Susan)

How can I change that? Thanks.

you need to go to

ld 95

If the new name is longer than the old name you will need to out the old name and then add a new name. If not you can just change the existing name.

The command is like this

REQ CHG
TYPE NAME
CUST 0
DIG (return)
DN ( Enter Extension Number you need to change name)
NAME (Enter new name)

If the new name is longer than the old you will need to do the following

REQ OUT
TYPE NAME
CUST 0
DIG (Return)
DN ( Enter Extension Number you need to remove name)

Return until you get the REQ prompt again.

This will remove the old name against the extension.

To add a new name enter the following.

REQ NEW
TYPE NAME
CUST 0
DIG (Return)
DN ( Enter Extension Number you need to add new name)
NAME (Enter new name)
XPLN (Return)
DN (If you want to add a new name for another extension enter hear and repeat)
DCNO (Return)

Return until you get REQ prompt.

I think if memory serves you will need the admin2 password to make the change to the midnight routines.

I would suggest you have a look at the software input/output manual and check LD 17.

you don't need the admin2 password

About that extension where you want to do the change, if you use line 2 on your phone, you might want to change the name on that extension as well, just a thought :)
