This phrase was in another post in another forum, but it got me to wondering the etymology and correct wording...

Anyone care to fill in the details?

You have all been plantars of good ideas for foot puns. I thought you had nailed every possible pun. But since I never "meta-tarsal" I didn't like, you spurred me on with blistering speed in my tendoncy to try to stress fracturing the record for foot and toe puns. But soon, I fear an athlete's foot whacking my butt if I don't stop.

Nah, too disjointed, too much wiggle room. Besides, I'm not sure I have standing to comment.

But the rest of you nailed it.

Seems ironic, though, that the first true personal digit assistants were each two feet but they weren't all the same size (of course, some animal lovers measure early PDA's in "hands").

I'm goint to quit now, although I am getting a kick out of this. Besides, I'm busy working on a document that has devloped Athlete's Footer.
