Partner SMDR output

I purchased a 355a adapter for our Partner ACS system. Is there anything I have to do to activate the SMDR output? It's plugged into my computer and i'm using the call accounting software from

Fire up Hyperterminal first

1200-N-8-1-No Flow control

Make sure you can see the raw SMDR stream first.

The address any issues with the setup of the call accounting software

I get little square boxes with a triangle on top of them with Hyper Terminal. 1200 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, no flow control, 1 stop bit.

Yes, CAT5 wired the same on both ends (568B standard). Wire tests fine. Roughtly 20' long.
