I have a newly installed IP Ofc Partner edition 6.0 and a question has come up that I need help with..
A outside caller calls in and gets the AA greeting...Then they press the 2 digit extension number and they get the users vm greeting..So far so good..The caller now wants to transfer out of the users mailbox and transfer into another 2 digit extension in the system, just like in the Partner Messaging *8[ star 8 ] and then input the other 2 digit Px number...From what I have seen & read so far, but not tried, is that I need to implement a DTMF breakout code in the users advanced setting page...From what I have read so far, it seems that if I assign a breakout code say *0 or *2 or *3, what i'm doing is permently assigning a extension number that callers will be transferred to, rather than having the option for the caller to transfer to any other station in the system...It seems that for instance *0 would be married to transfer a caller to a specified number only..
What is the answer..I'm on the right track or way off base...
Thanks in advance.

You are right on base. What your customer wants is the ability for personal vm boxes to be full auto attendants which would allow for them to keep entering numbers foever instead of forcing them to lay off the whisky and take a nap. ;)

CarGoSki...So if i populate the first field Reception/Breakout DTMF 0 with a *8 [ star 8 ] in the users advanced settings it will give the caller the option to transfer to another station ..I'm not sure of your answer....Please confirm.

Thanks

Actually I was being clever but I see that did not work well on a tech board.

What you can do is to program one of your breakout code for all mailbox users to transfer to the autoattendant extension therby routing back to the aa.

In my lab unit AA 1 is extension 7801. I can enter in 7801 for Breakout code 0 for extension 10. When I dial intercom 10 and the vmbox for 10 answers I can then dial *0 and be transferred to the AA greeting.

CarGoSki..Thanks for the clarification..My system is setup also for 7801...I like your fix to the problem......But... I was wondering if after dialing *0 ,could it be possible to transfer to any extension directly off of the *0 like in Partner messaging where the caller after dialing *8 would hear " Enter the extension number followed by the pound sign"....And not to be married to have to go back to the AA.
Is it possible in the IP Partner ofc version....Or it this the new way to do things...I'd like to think this is somewhat a industry standard option...Sorry to beat you up on this one ..Just trying to learn and fix.
Thanks

You are trying to turn a user mailbox into an auto attendant with the equalvalent of embedded voicemail in IPO. If Partner version IPO had voicemail pro then you could do what you are requesting but alsa embedded voicemail has normal mailbox functionality just like a partner version mailbox.

However what I have provided is pretty close to what you requested only in different form. Just create a new auto attendant to route to from breakout.

CarGoSki..Many thanks for your time...A star for you!
