we have a Ip office with 2 sites
site 1 has 403 with 8 digital phones

site 2 has 406 with (1)16 port analog tunk module
(1) 16 port Digital
(1) 30 port Digital
using 40 digital sets

We tried using an open analog port in site 1 and define
it as Paging speaker in EXTENSIONS field under
Equipment Clasification : defaults to "standard"
saved immediate ...but when calling analog extension we
get a busy ...per the notes under the "help' menu says:

No ringing is generated and the call will pickup immediately ........
since we are using the "TEL" port of off the
100 watt amp we should just get an open speech path to
feed into the amp ....we know the amp is good because
we can change it back to "standard" and wire it to the
"tel ring" port off of the amp and get RINGING through the speakers (call it Night ringing )

is there any way to program an unused Co port for paging
I know you can do it with a Legend System, Definity
and the Partners already have a Page port on the processor
just curious if anyone out there has used this behind a
paging system .

Thanks for any and all posts

Why don't you guys just use a modified 4406 phone and connect it to the amp. As a matter of fact, starcom makes a pre-modified unit you can buy, we just do it ourselves though.

Same here, the easiest method was to use an old second hand phone and connect the LIU to the earpiece of the handpiece connection and connecting this to a line input (not a mic input, good for wrecking phones)

Hang on - why are you guys even using an amp? Why not just use amplified speakers? That's all I did (using valcom powered speakers).

Simply connect the speakers voltage legs to an external power supply (get a decent one and you can power quite a few speakers off the one supply).

Then connect the speakers speech pair to a spare analog port on the IPO (set to 'paging').

This way the speakers have a permanent power supply - and the IPO controls the speech.

Not the perfect solution - but it works!

You can use virtually any mic amplified device via analogue ext or trunk port.
For best results to protect both devices the ipo and the paging unit use an 600 ohm isolating transformer.

You can buy this from Nimans its called a PAM10 unit has switches for trunk or extension.
