Here is an overview of CFW, showing how it is not MARP dependent, and how some DNs simply cannot be CFW'd unless they are reconfigured on the set. For this "tip" I have two example TNs:

TN 01

HUNT VOICEMAIL
KEY 3 CFW
KEY 2 6789 MARP
KEY 1 2201
KEY 0 1100 MARP

TN 02

HUNT RECEPTION
KEY 3 CFW
KEY 2 1100
KEY 1 2201 MARP
KEY 0 6789

In the above example:

If you CFW TN 1, only 1100 will be affected. 2201 and 6789 will not be affected
If you CFW TN 2, only 6789 will be affected, even though it is MARP'd on TN 1
Even if you CFW TN 1 and TN 2, 2201 will not be affected.

To CFW a DN, it must meet one of these conditions:

1. it is KEY 00 (or the DN if a 500 set is CFWing) and may appear on other phones.
or
2. it is not KEY 00 but has only one appearance in the system, that being the TN that wants to forward it.

PS: Sorry to "flood". Previous, similar posts will hopefully be deleted.

Here is another example:

TN 03

HUNT VOICEMAIL
KEY 3 CFW
KEY 2 3511 MARP
KEY 1 1654
KEY 0 5544 MARP

TN 04

HUNT RECEPTION
KEY 3 CFW
KEY 2 5544
KEY 1 1654 MARP
KEY 0 1233 MARP

In the above example:

~If you CFW TN 03, 5544 and 3511 will be affected (3511 does not appear on any other TN). 1654 will not be affected
~If you CFW TN 04, only 1233 will be affected. 1654, while MARP'd here, still does not meet the requirements for being Call Forwarded.
~Even if you CFW TN 03 and TN 04, 1654 will not be affected.

since your doing a cfw tip, you might want to inform users as to the diff between forward and hunt...

Excellent idea. Here are the exact names and definitions:

"Call Forward" is a user initiated action. You "Call Forward" your phone, such as when you are away or choose not to be disturbed.

"Hunt" is what occurs to calls to you phone when you are on the line that was called. In most cases you "Hunt up the keys" or "Hunt to another number" because you were busy on a call. This is the "HUNT" value on your TN.

A HUNT 000 value means "do not Hunt to a number off my phone, just Hunt up the keys". Some other features require a HUNT value to be defined, such as LHK.

"Forward no Answer" is what occurs when your DN goes unanswered. This is the "FDN" value (another DN) on your TN.

MARP _is_ used to determine what TN is called upon to obtain "Where you HUNT" and "Where you FDN"

“Bounce”, “Rollover” and “Backup” are not acceptable terms in the Nortel world.

GHTROUT's Call Forward info is exactly right, Here it is from Nortel Feature Guide:

Call Forward All Calls (CFW) automatically forwards incoming calls to another destination, within or outside the system. Only calls to the Prime DN or any single-appearance DN on the telephone are forwarded.

When you use Multiple Appearance DNs (MADNs), call redirection is determined based on the Terminal Number (TN) order in your DN block. To determine the TN order, print the DN block from LD 20 (TYPE = DNB). When a call comes in to an MADN, the system begins a search to determine how the call will be handled. Using the TN list you printed, the system performs the following search, beginning at the bottom of the TN list, and working up.

1. Searches for the first Prime DN appearance of the MADN with Call Forward All Calls activated.
2. If there are no Prime DN appearances, the Call Forward All Calls cannot be activated.

I have added all of this to my new Call Redirection Guide

hi GHTROUT,

Our setup here are sharing seat in a 1140 phone and let say key 0 is 1234 then key 3 is 5678, since they are shared seat if we like to call forward the phone all the extension in the phone are affected so is there a way that only one extension is affected in call forward?..

thanks..

For any DN you do *not* want to forward, just set it up so it does *not* meet the requirements for CFW.

How: Make sure the DN is not on KEY 00 and make sure it appears twice in the system. You can even make it appear twice on the same phone.

it seems that the original setup here are in key 0 and an another user is in key 3 so if we would like to change all the key 0 to key 1 or something then we are likely to change all the 800 users here which mean it takes us time. and how do you mean by appears twice in the system and same phone?..

I can't tell what DNs you want to CFW and what DNs you don't want to CFW. But I added your issue to my web page on redirection It includes:

To STOP a DN from being Call Forwarded:

1. Make sure it is NOT on KEY 00
2. Make sure the DN appears more than one time in the system. You can even add a second appearance of the DN on the same phone.

* With both of those conditions met, that DN will not CFW.
