So, I've searched several of the forums for how to do this, and have either overlooked something, or haven't been able to find a solution. I'm using IP Office Manager 7.0, and VM Pro Client 5.0.

Basically, what I'm trying to do is set up my system to ring a HuntGroup. After 15 sec, I'd like it to go to some sort of overflow, while still ringing the original Huntgroup. Essentially, if someone dialed in, they'd go to the Operator. If that person can't pick up, I'd like to have some overflow help, and still ring at the Operator desk.

I've tried setting up Overflows, but those drop the Operator/stop ringing once they roll over to the new overflow HuntGroup. I've also tried just using User extensions, but the ringing options don't really give me that option either.

Any tips/answers would be appreciated. I'm trying to build & roll out of new call flow for our company, and this would really help. Thanks all.

Just add the operator to the overflow group then that will still ring her even when it overflows :)

Just include the operator (and anyone else) you want to continue to ring in the overflow group. There's no rule against being apart of multiple groups.

Also add the overflow group a couple of times.
If you don't then the call goes back to the original group after 15 seconds and then again to the overflow group and on and on and on :)

I've tried doing that. However, when I go to select the Overflow Groups, the original Operator Group isn't an option to select. So, essentially, I can't overflow back to the original HuntGroup, just to alternate ones. I hope that makes sense. Hence me trying to work other options to get this thing to work.

You need to add the operator as a user in the overflow group.
Only then the operator keeps ringing when the call overflows.

tlpeter- That's what I thought I should have been able to do. However, IP Office doesn't give me the option of adding users under the Overflow. Only Groups. So, what I run into is that I can only choose hunt groups. It won't let me choose the Operator hunt group, and I can't manually input that into the Overflow Group list. Any other ideas? Am I missing something? Thanks

Go to the groups.
Go to the overflowgroup.
Add the user in to that group.
Go the the operator group.
Add the overflow group.

It sounds like your Operator is a User in a HuntGroup. Call come to the HuntGroup to ring the Operator? If Yes, than create a new HuntGroup for OperatorCoverage. In the OperatorCoverage group include the User(s) in the original Operator HuntGroup plus any additional Users who should ring when the Operator is not available. Use the 'new' OperatorCoverage group for your overflow.

ManDark199,

I would start from scratch. if there is already an overflow group in the config, delete it. Create a new one with valid number. Then add the same operator user thats in the main HG in the new overflow HG. You should be able to see all the users in the system when you add a member. You can add overflow to main group after your done with modifying the new overflow group.

......I am stunned.....such a basic thing.
Pressing F1 in Manager has all the answers.

Open control panel on your pc find add/ remove programmes then uninstall Manager, it will not help sort this for you but it will stop you doing some real damage, if you can't manage this you need some training :)

Thanks to all those who provided professional support; no thanks to anyone else who ridicules. What your suggestions have ultimately led to was my first assumption-- that there wasn't really a way to do this without micro-managing the users group and extensions manually. I had hoped that someone would be able to provide a simpler way. Much appreciated.

We have told you how to do it, it's as simple as adding a user into the overflow group...that's it. No micro managing anything.

The issue is you don't know how to do this or are misunderstanding what we are saying. I know exactly what you want, I do it all the time, it takes about 20 secs to do :)

Anytime, and I'll clarify why you can't ring two groups at once, each group has it's own timers and ring type, as a result if multiple groups were alerted those timers and ring types would mean the call could be trying to route to multiple external numbers or system announcments etc, this is not only impossible it would be extremely difficult to manage/track if you could :)

So you have the main group with the operator.
Let's call it "Main"
In this "Main" huntgroup, you have the operator in it.

Create a second group.
Call it "MainOverflow"
in this group, put all the extensions that you want.
And include the operator.

Then, put the "MainOverflow" as an overflow group of the "Main" huntgroup.
