I have a worker using Outlook 98. She uses Word as the editor and and is using a template for the signature. With a new message it uses the correct signature. When replying to a message it uses some old signature that I can't get my hands on. This signature is not any of the Outlook signatures and it is not in a template. If she doesn't use Word as my the editor (outlook rich text or anything else), it uses the correct signature in replies. She needs to have Word as the editor.

I have uninstalled Outlook 98 and reinstalled it, but the problem continues.

Under the Signature options, there is a check box that says
Do not use when Replying or Forwarding

Is this box checked? If so uncheck it, and it should solve your problem.

You might need to rebuild the normal.dot which is where the autosignature is stored.

To do this:

1. Quit Outlook.

2. On the Word Insert menu, point to AutoText and then click AutoText.

3. Scroll through the list of AutoText entries and click to select SIGNATURE.

4. Click Delete and OK.

5. Quit Word and if prompted, click to save changes to the Normal.dot file.

6. Start Outlook.

7. Open a new mail message.

8. Type the AutoSignature data as you wish it to appear.

9. Select the AutoSignature data just entered.

10. On the Tools menu, click AutoSignature.

11. Click Yes and OK.

12. Close the message without saving.

Then, to rebuild the Normal.dot File :

1. Quit Outlook.

2. Quit Word.

3. Using the Windows Find File function, search for and rename the Normal.dot file.

4. Start Outlook.

5. Open a new mail message.

6. Type the AutoSignature data as you wish it to appear.

7. Select the AutoSignature data you just entered.

8. On the Tools menu, click AutoSignature.

9. Click Yes and OK.

10. Close the message without saving.

Thank you Hasit. I forgot all about the "pesky" autotext option in Word. Have a great day. Thanks again for taking the time to address my little "issue."

Thanks Hasit!

I forgot all about that "pesky" autotext feature. I just had to modify the signature and we are good to go.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my little "issue".

Have a great day!
